An open letter from Kurt Riemann

I began Surreal Studios as a four track studio in 1977. Seven years later, the studio was moved to its current location in central Anchorage, also becoming the first 24 track facility in the state.

Surreal was founded on the idea that there should be a studio in Alaska as good as any other in the Northwest. Because of this, we became committed to keeping the equipment and engineering ability to the highest possible standards. Yet we also wanted the studio within the reach of as many people as possible who recognize the need for quality. We're proud that we've been able to keep our prices the same as (and in most cases below) any comparable studio Outside.

We've also learned to use all of the musical resources available locally. We've found the best session musicians and voice talent in the state. We work with all of them. And they're only a phone call away.

For nearly two decades we've listened to the needs of the Alaskan music community. This has led us into many exciting new areas. We've become involved in everything from pre-production to duplication to distribution of the final product.

But most of all, we're honored to have become members of the Alaskan musical community. The hundreds of artists we've recorded over the years have become our friends.

So thanks to all you Alaskans for helping us help you for the past years. We look forward to hearing all of you again.
